The COOP project consists of two distinct activities. On the one hand, there is the reception of new or growing SMEs. This activity, representing approximately 75% of the renovated surface area in this building (i.e. 3,000 m²), is intended, among other things, to meet the needs of SMEs that have started up in the business centres. The premises offer some twenty modular spaces for these companies.

On the other hand, the Canal Discovery Centre is a unique place to discover another history of Brussels. Through an exhibition and cooperative and creative workshops, it provides a better understanding of the realities of the canal neighbourhoods in terms of population, industry and the environment.

The building also houses a river innovation site (construction, repair, maintenance of wooden boats), in cooperation with various local and European actors (Leonardo EU Boat project).
The premises can also host one-off events. A panoramic cafeteria completes the complex.

The participation of the European Union and the Brussels-Capital Region in the infrastructure works amounts to 8.3 M€ out of a total budget of 9.9 M€.
